FRIENDSHIP, WI (WSAU) -  The Big Flats man accused of murdering his mother in 2010 was the only defense witness called to testify Thursday. 61-year-old Larry Clark told the court that he shot 79-year-old Marcella Clark, but says it was not intentional. Clark said, “My mother was not murdered.” Clark also said the revolver authorities have shown during the trial is not the one that was in his couch cushions when deputies arrested him.

Clark is charged with homicide, hiding a corpse, passing a forged check, providing false information about a missing person and misappropriation of identification. He denied hiding his mother’s body. He said he placed Marcella Clark on a tarp 52 feet from the house because he planned to bury her.

Larry Clark spent nearly three hours on the witness stand answering questions from defense attorney James Connell and prosecutor David Maas from the Attorney General’s office. Juneau County Judge Paul Curran dismissed the jury after Clark’s testimony. Closing arguments will be given by the attorneys Friday morning.

If convicted, Clark could spend the rest of his life in prison.
