FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (WSAU-Wheeler) - A 61-year-old Adams County man was found guilty this afternoon of killing his mother in 2010.
Jurors in Friendship deliberated about two hours before convicting Larry Clark of first-degree intentional homicide. A sentencing date was not immediately set. Clark faces a life prison term, but a judge can set a date for a possible supervised release. He was also convicted of stealing his mother’s credit cards and writing checks on her account. 79-year-old Marcella Clark was shot in the back at the Big Flats home she and her son shared.
Larry Clark testified that he shot the gun by accident, passed out, and saw her dead after he woke up the next day. Prosecutors said Clark told conflicting stories of where his mother was, when people asked after the murder. Besides homicide, Clark was found guilty of hiding a corpse, identity theft, providing false information about a missing person, and two counts of forgery.
