WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Wausau has put out the call to hire a new humane officer.
The city announced the full time position on Monday. Human resources director Michael Loy says the city is looking for a qualified humane officer. "We're looking for a very good ability to communicate with the public, talk about animal care, and enforce the ordinances and licensing compliance." The position will not be a sworn police police position.
Loy says any applicant should have a high school diploma, a year of experience in a field that requires communication with the public, preferably with the care of animals involved. Anyone who is hired will go through a training course to get humane officer certification with the state.
