STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Remodelling has begun on a popular Stevens Point facility, but there is still a little time to get public ideas considered in the building plan.
Sentry Insurance is renovating both the golf course and the adjacent sports and multi-purpose facility. Stephanie Smith from Sentry says the company is renovating the golf pro shop, the restaurant, and meeting areas, but would like to know what the public hopes to see in the large multi-purpose area. “SentryWorld was originally built to be a resource for the residents of the Stevens Point area, so Sentry is asking those residents what kind of activities should take place in a newly-remodelled SentryWorld facility. That way, we can make sure that we include things in the planning and really make this a useful multi-purpose facility for the community.”
Smith says the present layout has indoor tennis courts that can convert to a large conference or display area. She says Sentry really wants to find out what is needed and what types of activities would the community support. “This is not really a question of overstressed (facilities) or underutilization. It’s really an opportunity because the facility will be remodelled, and because it was built thirty years ago and uses that were not practical or not possible at that time may be today.”
