STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The UW-Stevens Point theatre department brings one of the best American musicals to the stage this weekend.
Opening tonight is Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel, the classic piece about love and the decisions we make. Director Alan Patrick Kenny says the musical's story still rings true today. "It asks a lot of questions about the consequences of our actions in the world, how we treat others, treat our loved ones, and what happens when our mistakes can hurt us and hurt our families in the future."
It's a big show with 36 actors in the cast, and Kenny says the entire theatre department has been working hard on the show. "When we all come together to tell such a beautiful story, I think it inspires everyone to do their best work." The entire fine arts department is pitching in this year, with an orchestra from the music department, and handcrafted carousel horses on stage from the arts department.
The show runs this week and next, and tickets are available online at http://tickets.uwsp.edu, or by calling the box office at (715) 346-0123.
