UNDATED (WSAU) -- The cost of that traditional turkey dinner is down slightly from previous years, and the cost of cooking it is pretty low, too.
Alliant Energy says their Wisconsin customers will pay about $1.34 for electricity and about 46-cents for natural gas to prepare their feast. Three hours in the oven for a 16-pound stuffed turkey will cost about 76-cents in an electric oven or about 27-cents in a gas oven. The other items like the potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls, and a couple of pumpkin pies cost even less.
The study done by the Edison Electric Institute shows the electric bill is about the same percentage of annual income as it was in the 1950’s, even with the numerous new appliances and kitchen gadgets we plug into the outlets today.
