MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) - Several Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers from around the state were recognized for courageous actions and exceptional service during a ceremony at the state capitol Wednesday.

His name is Trooper Thomas J. Aures of Kronenwetter. He was honored for saving the life of a motorcyclist that crashed in Marathon County September 23rd of last year.

Aures found the man unconscious and gasping for breath after being thrown from his motorcycle. With help from a passing motorist, Aures rendered medical aid. The victim eventually regained consciousness and his skin color returned to normal. The Trooper supplied oxygen to the victim until he was transported by helicopter to a hospital.

After paramedics arrived, Aures consoled a 7-year-old child who had witnessed the crash. Aures received a Lifesaving Award from Governor Scott Walker.
