WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - An area charity is benefiting from a recent business donation. Habitat For Humanity received over eighteen thousand dollars worth of hardware and household fixtures from Ace Hardware in Weston.
David Wiegand from Habitat For Humanity says this donation is huge for them. "We filled two vans and a pickup truck with various items that are just a beautiful collection of things that they didn't want to put back in the store but yet we can use in the houses we're building and in our recycled building center."
Wiegand says with a donation of new items like these, they can use their other resources to buy other things they need to build new houses for deserving families. "We'll be able to generate thousands of dollars through our store, and it will save us hundreds to thousands of dollars on the houses that we build, because if we can put a brand new light fixture in at no cost to us, it's a direct savings, or if we sell a light fixture, the we can use that money to buy a two-by-four."
Ace Hardware decided to donate all of the items leftover from a recent tent sale instead of putting them back in the store. The items not installed in a new Habitat For Humanity house will be available for sale in their recycled building materials center.
Habitat for Humanity is presently working on two houses that will be ready next year. They just finished two other houses, and one of the families will be moving in later this month.
