WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Wausau School District officials have called a special meeting of the Board of Education for Thursday evening, and the only things on the agenda are related to the music curriculum and performances.
There will be time allotted for public comments, and the board may both discuss and act on music issues that evening.
The special board meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Wausau East Auditorium.
There will be a closed session with the board, administration, and legal counsel during the hour prior to the special open meeting.
School Board members have been receiving a large number of calls and emails from district residents about the changes brought about last Friday, when the administration started using a different method to enforce an existing policy related to religious music in the school programs. The changes have not been very popular with parents. The administrative action without board approval has upset several school board members.
