WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Wausau is beginning phase one of redeveloping another downtown segment along the Wisconsin River.
The project announced Friday starts with environmental remediation on about seven acres between the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin and Bridge Street. The work starts Monday, and includes removing a storm sewer and reestablishing a natural creek.
James Peterson Sons Inc. from Medford is the contractor for the project.
Mayor Jim Tipple says this is just the first step in revitalizing valuable, riverfront property adjacent to the downtown and providing riverfront access to the public.
