MOSINEE, Wis (WSAU) Two teenagers from Mosinee are accused in multi-county crime spree from earlier this summer. 17-year-old Sawyer Wirkus and 18-year-old Nick Nesbitt are accused of stealing two vehicles and vandalizing a cabin on June 21 and 22nd.
Nesbitt appeared in Taylor County court yesterday. Wirkus is scheduled for a court appearance later this month.
Police say the two stole a pick-up truck in Marshfield and drove to a cabin in Dorchester. They were looking to steal alcohol, but wound up stealing a gun instead. They later vandalized a shed that was left unlocked in Medford.
They stole a second vehicle that was eventually abandoned in Wausau. Police say a sweatshirt that was left behind led them to the suspects.
Police say Nesbitt may also be involved in property crimes in Auburndale and Marshfield. They're investigating additional charges against him.
