LA CROSSE, Wis. (WSAU) - La Crosse, Wisconsin is known for many things, including the Mississippi River, the bluffs, and their annual Octoberfest celebration. Now, the La Crosse festival has a connection to Wisconsin Rapids... again. That’s because a Wisconsin Rapids native will succeed another Wisconsin Rapids native as Miss La Crosse / Octoberfest.
The 2012 Miss La Crosse / Octoberfest is Tianna Vanderhei crowned Christa Brehm as her successor Saturday at Viterbo College. The UW La Crosse computer science major is no stranger to pageants. She placed as third runner up for Miss Wisconsin Rapids when she was still home a year ago.This will be the 53rd annual Octoberfest, with music, food, and of course plenty of beer. City Brewery was formed in 1999 using the former G. Heileman Brewing Company’s plant, which used to make Old Style, Blatz, and Special Export. Now, City Brewery owns Latrobe Brewery in Pennsylvania. They produce and distribute over thirty different beers, sodas, and other beverages.
