Good Samaritan rescues cats hurled from moving car

MADISON, Wis (WRN)  An unnamed Madison man is being credited for rescuing a pair of cats from a busy roadside, after the pets were thrown out of a moving car. According to a police report, the 24-year-old driver initially thought the object being thrown from the car he was driving behind was a white plastic bag. It turned out to be a deaf cat named Tubbs, which was followed shortly by a second cat, named Mambo. The driver stopped and collected both cats, taking them to an animal clinic where his mother works. The incident occurred on the afternoon of March 24th on South Stoughton Road at speeds estimated to be about 50 miles an hour.

Mambo and Tubbs may have used up one their nine lives that afternoon, but they checked out okay. Clinic staff discovered the pair have implanted microchips, and were able to identify their owner. Concerned she might have had something to do with the tossing incident, they called police and the Dane County Humane Society.

An officer met with a 62-year old Madison woman, and she started crying when she heard what had happened. She had reported Mambo and Tubbs missing. She told the officer there is a cat door on her home so her pets can go outside, and speculated that someone found them, and took them for a ride.
