WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The suspended Wausau Newman coach and teacher accused of possessing child pornography is no longer in jail. 50-year-old Michael Switalski was released Thursday on a $35,000 cash bond.
Switalski’s bond level was reduced Monday from $75,000 to $35,000 by Judge Jill Falstad.
While free on bond, Switalski has to follow some court ordered rules. He cannot have contact with children under 18. He also cannot have any direct contact in person, by phone, or in writing with any alleged victims, and cannot use the Internet. He also has to stay in Marathon County unless he gets permission from the judge.
Switalski was arrested after a Canadian firm was shut down for selling pornographic materials and he was on the client list. Investigators found nearly 100 pictures of naked boys and a pornographic DVD in the player when they searched his home. If convicted, he could get nearly 200 years of prison time.
Switalski goes back before the judge for a pretrial conference April 17th at 2:30 p.m.
