UPDATE: The Portage County sheriffs department has released the names of the two victims of Monday night's crash on Highway 66 in Linwood.

The deceased are motorcycle driver 21-year-old Alexander Reeder of Wisconsin Rapids and his passenger 20-year-old Katherine Axlen of Mukwonago. They were both seniors at UW-Stevens Point.

An accident report says an oncoming minivan made a turn into a private driveway in front of the motorcycle. The van driver has been identified as Sheila Schulfer of Linwood. She and a passenger were uninjured.

Sheriffs investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

These are the first traffic fatalities of 2014 in Portage County.
