RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WSAU) -- Motorists traveling Highway 29 in the Wausau area will have to drive through some lane restrictions starting next Tuesday.
Construction crews plan to replace some pavement and the bridge decks on the Wisconsin River crossing between Rib Mountain and Rothschild. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, and speeds will be reduced.
Local residents that typically cross Highway 29 on Sunrise Drive will have to go several miles out of the way most of the summer, but that phase of work doesn’t start until June 10th.
A construction information meeting is set for Tuesday, April 29th at the Rothschild Village Hall, starting at 5:00 p.m. This multi-phase project includes several repairs and improvements in this stretch of Highway 29 that will cost 18.8 million dollars and reach completion in May of 2017.
