STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Stevens Point leaders will consider changes that would allow for more University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point parking.
The City of Stevens Point’s Plan Commission has been asked by the university to amend the city’s Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map and the zoning to change five properties including four houses from residential use to UWSP use. The college would like to build a 75 stall parking lot. The properties are on the north side of Portage Street between Isadore and Division Streets
If approved, the parking lot would occupy half of the block. The other half of this block is the city’s main fire station.
The Plan Commission meets at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Lincoln Center to consider the request.
