WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Wausau police issued citations to eight people in an undercover prostitution sting. They targeted would-be customers who responded to a fake on-line ad that offered sex for money.
Police say during the last week in July 60 people responded to the ad. Eight actually made arrangements to meet an undercover officer for sex. They'll be fined $2,000 each under the city's new prostitution ordinance.
One of the people charged is a Wausau School District teacher. The school district says the case will be handled as a personnel matter. Police haven't released the names of the suspects, but that's expected to happen shortly.
