It looks as though  Stone Temple Pilots  may be starting to work on a new album, which will be their first with  Chester Bennington  on vocals. Bennington is of course the frontman of  Linkin Park  and was asked by STP to take over vocal duties for the band, following the departure of  Scott Weiland .

Bennington revealed that he and the Pilots "started writing some stuff a couple of weeks ago and that was a lot of fun, so we're planning to record some music as soon as possible."

He's officially been the frontman of STP for more than a year now, and Bennington says that he's thoroughly enjoying his opportunity to play with both groups. "It's fun to be around a bunch of people who thoroughly enjoy making music all the time," he said. "I get to be in Linkin Park and I get to play with some of the best musical minds in music right now, and then I get to come home and go play with some more people who are great. It's pretty awesome."

Though Bennington says he doesn't know exactly when the STP recording sessions will start, he says it's a priority. "We want to do it as soon as possible. So we'll make that happen with the time that we have, when I'm not on the road with Linkin Park."

That will mean at least another five weeks or so; Linkin Park kicks off their Carnivores tour with 30 Seconds to Mars  on Friday.
