EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WSAU) --
A man drowned after falling from his boat near Eagle River Saturday morning at about 10:30 a.m. Vilas County deputies say the 77-year-old man fell overboard while being towed by another boat on Catfish Lake. He did not have a lifejacket on.
The other boaters got the man out of the water and immediately started CPR while transporting him to an ambulance at the boat landing. The man was taken to Eagle River Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later.
The man’s name will be released after his family is notified. Deputies say he had recently moved to the area.
Spirit Air, Eagle River Rescue, Eagle River Ambulance Service, Eagle River Fire Department, and the Vilas County Coroner helped the Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
