WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Northcentral Technical College is opening up a new partnership with Sheboygan-based Lakeland College to offer a dual enrollment program.
The new program would put students into classes through both schools while virtually attending the classes in Wausau. Student services VP Dr. Laurie Borowitz says the program is an extension of their partnership programs with other schools. "Students will be dually admitted to both colleges with one application. They will seamlessly transition after receiving their associate degree from NTC into a Lakeland bachelor's degree. We'll have one advisor helping them."
Borowitz says they'd like to be able to help students better transition out of NTC once they get their degree. "Sometimes transfer can be confusing and complicated for students, and we're doing everything we can to make this seamless and easy for our students to just start their bachelor's degree right here at NTC." Classes will start at NTC and continue through the school's current Virtual College program to keep taking their classes in Wausau once they move to the Lakeland courses.
This is currently a new test program with Lakeland, and Borowitz is hoping it can expand in the future. "Our initial launch is with our business management program to their business administration program. And then we're going to hopefully expand it to other areas such as criminal justice and human services."
