WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The former executive director of the Wausau Area Builder's Association will be heading to trial on embezzlement charges.
43-year-old Christopher Briquelet of Iola waived a preliminary hearing to 14 counts of felony theft from a business Wednesday afternoon. He's accused of taking over $167,000 from the association’s bank account between 2009 and 2012.
Prosecutors say Briquelet signed out multiple checks to himself through payroll and abused the association's credit card accounts. The missing money was discovered after the WABA had some checks bounce, and an audit was done.
Briquelet is free on a $150,000 signature bond.
He'll be back in court to enter pleas on the case September 5th.
