AMHERST, Wis. (WSAU) -- The future of the mill pond in Amherst could be decided Tuesday.
The Village Board meets Tuesday, knowing the August 12th referendum showed the majority of the residents want to save the mill pond. Saving it could cost the village just over a million dollars to double the capacity of the spillway below the dam to bring it within state guidelines.
By law, the spillway has to be capable of handling a 500 year flood without overflowing because of the rating of the dam and the infrastructure located downstream from it.
The Amherst Village Board meets Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
