STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The man arrested 10 days ago for driving drunk and crashing on I-39 at Stevens Point was in court Monday, but no action was taken. 37-year-old Miguel Albino-Granda of Bloomington, Minnesota had a blood-alcohol level of 0.139 when he crashed his minivan Saturday evening on I-39 near the Business 51 north exit.
Albino-Granda appeared for an initial appearance, but the court quickly learned the public defender’s office had not yet made contact with him. With help from an interpreter, Albino-Granda was informed of the charges and possible penalties, and advised that he will be speaking with an attorney before they continue the proceedings. His $4,000 cash bond will continue.
Four of the five people riding in the car were taken to St. Michael’s Hospital for treatment. Officers believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, which happened near the Business 51 north exit in Stevens Point.
