STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) When students return to UW-Stevens Point later this week, they'll see a change in the school's smoking policy. The entire campus -- including outdoor areas -- will be smoke free.
The policy change was approved by student referendum at the end of the last school year. It replaces the old policy which banned smoking within 30-feet of all campus buildings.
The new smoke-free campus rule includes a ban on chewing tobacco an e-cigarettes. Students decided against having designated smoking areas. New 'smoke free campus' signs have been placed around UWSP for the start of the new school year.
The campus officially went tobacco free Monday.
