WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wausau city leaders are reviewing their present room tax guidelines. Mayor Jim Tipple participated in an Ad Hoc committee meeting Wednesday, where the existing guidelines were discussed along with some suggestions for improvement. “The committee came up with some recommendations, and we’ll be compiling those. Then, we’ll probably meet again and make sure everybody is on the same page. Then, that recommendation will go to the Finance Committee.”
Tipple says the review includes examining the city’s room tax ordinance, evaluating how the dollars have been allocated. “They’re looking at if there needs to be a different formula, or how do we validate who gets what, but they’re very pleased with the current formula, and they want to meet one more time before they finalize them (the recommendations).”
The Ad Hoc committee is also studying pending state legislation that could impact room tax ordinances around the state.
