ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Rothschild is the latest municipality to put out a water running order to residents.
Public works director Tim Vergara says it's a version of the run order much like Weston put out. "It's not a village wide run order at this point right now. Right now we're being particular on where we're selecting where the residents run their water based on what we're finding." Residents are being notified with placards placed on their houses to keep the water running somewhere inside their house in order to prevent pipes from freezing in the ground.
Vergara says the reason for the selected orders is differences in house construction and also where the house is on the water system. "Some of the problems we're having are poly lines, instead of the full copper all the way to the house. You can't defrost those as easily. But we're finding we're having problems on newer mains as well as the older mains."
Rothschild joins Schofield, Weston, Merrill and Mosinee in having some type of water run orders.
