MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- There's still time to sign up for a special business to business trip to India with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

WEDC International Business Vice President Lora Klenke says this is a chance for Wisconsin businesses to link up with Indian counterparts. "We will be going to the market and looking for individuals, importers, distributors, end users of their products and setting customized meetings for them, and really giving them in-depth experience and market intelligence of what's happening in the market." At each stop, participants will take part in one-on-one meetings with potential customers, agents, distributors and other market intermediaries.

The trip is open to all businesses, but Klenke says there's real opportunities for those in the municipal support markets like construction, healthcare and water technology. "Currently in their five year plan, India is planning to spend 108-billion dollars annually just on water and wastewater services by 2025. And this is where it lines really nicely with Wisconsin's core strength in the water sector."

India has the world’s second-largest population and an ever-rising standard of living, which means plenty of possible new customers for Wisconsin exporters. "And they're not only growing by number, but their middle class is growing dramatically, and this represents a great opportunity for Wisconsin companies to tap into the needs of the growing economy." Klenke says India’s long-term prospects for growth and increasing prosperity are strong.

The cost for the meetings will be covered by WEDC. That includes the specialized meetings and market surveys, the cost of airfare between New Delhi/Bangalore and Bangalore/Mumbai, as well as ground transportation for all customized appointments and airport pickup. Companies will still be responsible for the cost of airfare to India, getting visas, and all accommodations
