WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Eleven local businesses are up for the annual Wausau Chamber Small Business of the Year Award.
Chamber president Aaron Kapellusch says small businesses form the base of Central Wisconsin. "About 70 percent of our membership is businesses that 50 employees and under, so it's very important for us to recognize those organizations and companies and encourage them and encourage the community to get behind them and support them."
In the Business to Business sector, Finishing Touch Signs of Wausau and Revi Design of Weston have been nominated.
The nominations for Business-to-Customer are Day's Bowl-A-Dome, Ginseng and Herb Co-Op in Marathon City, Grebe's in Wausau, and the New City Grill in Wausau.
In the Non-Profit Charity category are Achieve Center, Bridge Community Health Clinic, the Never Forgotten Honor Flight, and K-Tech Charities.
Kapellusch says all of the nominees are there for a reason. "We really recognize these companies as being exceptional and we commend them with following through the application process and we wish them the best of luck."
The Winners will be revealed in spring. "At our small business week, these folks are all recognized. We have a keynote event as part of the small business week in which these people are honored and given the awards." That event is April 22 at 7:30.
