STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- UW Stevens Point’s annual Taste of Wisconsin is almost here. Organizer Greg Diekroeger says participants can find a wide variety. “It’s an opportunity for participants to sample many of the fine products that are unique to Wisconsin, from beverages to food and everything in between.”
The Taste of Wisconsin is held Friday, March 7th in the Laird Room of the Dreyfus University Center at UW Stevens Point. Diekroeger says you can enjoy the samples and conversation by sitting or just roaming. “You go from table to table after you get in, and you take a little sample. You can sit down. There will be seating available, but mostly, people just kind of wander around and sample what they’re interested in.”
Several food and beverage producers will be there, including Portesi Pizza, Mullins Cheese, Neuske’s Meat, Three Lakes Winery, Stevens Point Brewery, Oso Brewing, and several others.
DeKroger says they host this event to promote a campus hangout and the many fine Wisconsin producers. “It is not a fundraiser, it’s just an opportunity for us to present some of the things that are unique to Wisconsin, as well as the sponsoring department. The Basement Brewhouse is our coffeehouse pub on campus, and we try to focus on local or at least Wisconsin made products.”
Participants have to be 21 since there is alcohol served, and the $25.00 tickets are available in advance at the University Information and Ticket Center, or by calling 800-838-3378.
Diekroeger says the last two have sold out, so it would be wise to get tickets early.
