Plea deal reached for former Oneida & Forest County medical examiner

RHINELANDER, Wis. (WXPR) -- Two years ago, Oneida County's Medical Examiner was arrested for allegedly keeping human tissue from autopsies to train a cadaver dog. Friday, 46 year old Traci England entered into a plea bargain with prosecutors.

England was found guilty by Judge Leon Stenz of two counts of felony Misconduct in Public office.

An Oneida County deputy rode with England back from Fond du Lac in January 2012 after two autopsies. England talked to the deputy about allegedly getting tissue from the autopsies to train her dog as a cadaver dog. One of the persons being autopsied was from Oneida county, the other from Forest county, where they had a mutual agreement on medical examiner services. No agreement had been received prior to the autopsies about taking the tissue and England was arrested. She resigned from the Medical Examiner post after her arrest.

Other related charges will be read in at sentencing which is set for February 10.
