WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The upcoming weekend cold weather has prompted a second-straight year of cancellations for Special Olympics Wisconsin. The organization announced Thursday they have called off participation in the cross-country skiing and snowshoe racing at Nine Mile Forest, and the snowboard and alpine skiing events at Granite Peak.
The Friday forecast calls for a warm day, but Saturday’s temperatures are expected to plunge, with wind chills exceeding 20-below. Sunday’s weather is supposed to be even colder.
All of the indoor events will take place as scheduled.
