STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- A mistrial has been declared in the trial of the man accused of helping his wife and brother-in-law illegally cash the Social Security checks of his mother-in-law.

72-year-old Ronald Disher faced five charges, with three of them being felony party to the crime of defrauding the Social Security administration and two charges stemming from an incident where Disher brandished a metal object as a weapon when agents came to his property to speak to him and his wife Delores.

Disher was found guilty of disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering safety from the incident with agents at his property. The seven men and six women that made up the jury plus one alternate could not agree on the fraud charges.

Molepske says it is possible Disher could be retried on the three charges related to Social Security fraud because of the mistrial.

Judge Thomas Flugaur declared the mistrial just before 5:00 p.m. Friday and discharged the jury.
