Brewers going for first sweep over Reds in two years

(WNFL)- It's been almost two years since the Milwaukee Brewers swept a three-game series from Cincinnati. But if the Brewers can do it this afternoon, it will help them in two ways. First, it would give the Crew a temporary two-game lead in the National League Central, a few hours before second-place Saint Louis hosts Tampa Bay. Secondly, a loss by the Reds would put them five-and-a-half games behind front-running Milwaukee in the division standings. Right-hander Kyle Lohse will face Cincinnati right-hander Mike Leake, with the first pitch at 1:10. Lohse is 10-4 with a 3.16 ERA. He won his last start over Washington last Friday night, giving up one run on 10 hits in seven innings. Leake is 7-8 with a 3.63 ERA. He took the loss in the most recent outing against the Mets in New York last Friday night. He gave up four runs in seven innings of that contest. Brewers' third baseman Aramis Ramirez would reach a milestone this afternoon if manager Ron Roenicke doesn't rest him. Ramirez' next game will be the two-thousandth of his career. He'll be the 14th active Major League player to reach that longevity plateau.
