APPLETON, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Appleton and Stevens Point attorney convicted of assaulting his wife will be sentenced Wednesday.
49-year-old David G. Dudas could spend the rest of his life behind bars. He was found guilty of nearly 30 crimes, where his wife was the victim. It was a year ago this week when Dudas smothered, choked, and sexually assaulted his wife. She escaped through a window, and their children contacted the police.
The defense claimed Dudas and his wife had a happy marriage, and that they regularly had consensual rough sex, but the jury didn’t believe it after watching 17 home videos Dudas had recorded.
Brown County Judge Tammy Jo Hock will preside over the Outagamie County sentencing at 9:30 a.m.
The convictions include first degree sexual assault, 14 counts of second degree sexual assault, and 11 counts of strangulation and suffocation. The penalties add up to over 700 years of potential prison time, so it is unlikely Dudas will be free again.
