No New Falcon Chicks This Year

by

WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Weston WPS power plant won’t have any baby peregrine falcons this year.

Three eggs were laid on the roof of the Weston Power Plant by Mother Peregrine, but she never returned to the nesting box. Kelly Zagrzebski from Wisconsin Public Service said there is no way of knowing what happened to Mother Peregrine. But without her, there would be no new baby chicks this year.

Even though there are no new chicks this year, each elementary school student who won the “Name the Peregrine Chick” contest will still receive a lesson from the Raptor Education Group, Inc.

More information about Peregrine Falcon nesting boxes at Wisconsin Public Service power plants can be found at their website, http://www.wisconsinpublicservice.com/environment/falcons.aspx
