MENOMONIE, Wis. (WSAU) -- The pilot that died last Sunday during the Stevens Point Air Show was buried Friday.

47-year-old William Cowden’s funeral was held at Menomonie Alliance Church, followed by burial at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner. He was a former military jet pilot and commercial airliner pilot, and was buried with full military honors.

An additional memorial service for Cowden is planned for 2:00 p.m. June 13th at the Fargo Air Museum in Fargo, North Dakota.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are still investigating the crash. They don’t yet know why Cowden’s Yakovlev Yak-55M aircraft crashed.
