MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Several couples rushed to courthouses across the state to take advantage of a judge’s ruling against the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.
Some courthouses reported lines of couples waiting to make it official. The Journal Sentinel reports that the Milwaukee County courthouse had a line for 3 hours before it opened.
Couples and gay rights activists believe there is a small window of opportunity, with the threat of Friday’s ruling to be put on hold.
Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has requested an emergency stay to halt issuing licenses to same-sex couples.
