WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) The Wisconsin Woodchucks had a large number of alumni and two current players get word that they have been taken in the major league baseball draft that finished up on Saturday.
Current Woodchucks Paul De Jong and pitcher Logan Sawyer were picked. Sawyer went to the Rockies in the 29th round shortly before his scheduled start on Saturday night. He was scatched and will leave the Chucks to start his pro career. De Jong celebrated his being picked by the Pirates in the 38th round by homering both Saturday and Sunday in Woodchuck wins.
