STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- A busy Stevens Point street will be blocked to traffic while crews dig up and repair a storm water drain.
Michigan Avenue will be closed starting Tuesday between Main Street and College Avenue, right in front of P.J. Jacobs Junior High School.
The pavement and utilities were replaced in this stretch of street a couple of years ago, but it was discovered that the school’s roof drain was supposed to tie into the storm sewer under the street. The excavation is being done to repair that connection and solve the drainage problem and issues with water seeping up through the grass.
Access to the school and to the municipal pool will still be available. The signed detour will direct trucks to Stanley Street, Green Avenue (Highway Y) and Highway 66.
