STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) --
The Plover man charged with killing his neighbor admitted his guilt in court Friday. Jose Luis Flores Aca pled guilty to first-degree homicide and first-degree sexual assault with great bodily harm. A third charge of hiding a corpse was dismissed, but will be read in at sentencing.
Aca strangled 36-year-old Jamie Koch to death August 6th, 2013 at the building where they both had separate apartments. He then placed her body in Koch’s car and drove her to a Waupaca county farm field. That’s where Flores Aca set fire to the car in an attempt to dispose of Koch’s body. Koch’s remains were discovered the next day.
Koch’s family was in court Friday as Flores Aca entered his guilty pleas. The prosecution is asking for a sentence of life in prison with a concurrent 40-year sentence. They also want lifetime supervision and mandatory sex offender registration if he ever does get out of prison.
Judge Thomas Flugaur ordered a presentence investigation, and that should be completed by September 9th. Flores Aca will be back in court for sentencing September 30th at 1:30 p.m.
