RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WSAU) -- The name of the Stevens Point man that died Saturday while swimming in Rib Mountain has been released. He was 49-year-old Vang Yang.
The Marathon County medical examiner ruled Yang drowned. Yang’s body was recovered from a private pond, where a family gathering was taking place Saturday afternoon. Marathon County Sheriff’s department investigators say alcohol was not a factor, and they saw no evidence of any alcohol at the family gathering.
Yang went missing in the private two-acre pond near Goldenrod Road in Rib Mountain at about 3:30 p.m. Family members called 9-1-1 for help. Yang was found dead about two-and-a-half hours later.
