STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The wait is almost over at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, and that means they’re hiring. When the golf course and sports center shut down for renovations a year ago, they lost their previous workforce. New Manager Mike James says he’s planning to have a larger team in place to serve their visitors. “When we’re fully operational next year in 2015, we will double if not triple our workforce from full-time and part-time positions, seasonal positions.”
James says the construction work is still underway, but he’s hiring some people yet this year and even more next year. “We’ll be hiring golf staff this year. We’ll be hiring some for the cart barn area, the pro shop service area. We’ll be hiring with a full hiring blitz on the restaurant this year. We anticipate opening the restaurant sometime this year, this fall.”
Sentry Spokesperson Stephanie Smith says when SentryWorld sports complex reopens, they will definitely have more positions to fill than what was lost a year ago. “When the sports center facility closed last fall for construction, less than 25 jobs were eliminated. This spring as construction on the facility wraps up and we look to open the course for extremely limited play, we are looking to hire between 50, but probably closer to 75 employees.”
James says the time to apply for positions is now, and there is a deadline. “Right now, we are encouraging those who are interested in working here at SentryWorld to visit sentry.com/careers, and we have an application online that you can fill out, and the deadline is July 12th.
SentryWorld is doing all of their hiring through their own website, and they are not utilizing outside websites or job recruitment offices to fill the positions, so he encourages interested applicants to go to their website very soon.
James says the Sentry website has more information about interviews. He wants to get plenty of applications, and then plenty of face-to-face interview time before he builds his new team. He wants the right people to create a positive experience for both the visitors to SentryWorld and it’s team members.
