WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU-WAOW) -- At least eleven weather related records were tied or broken Friday.
Newsline 9 Meteorologist Rob Duns says the unseasonably cold air set new record lows in Antigo, Green Bay, Manitowoc, Marshfield, Merrill, Oshkosh, Rhinelander, Stevens Point, Sturgeon Bay, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids.
Duns says Stevens Point cooled to -27 degrees Friday morning, demolishing the previous 1917 record low of -12 degrees. Wisconsin Rapids' hit -20 degrees, toppling the -18 degrees record set in 1922. Wausau shattered the 1962 record of 21-below by two more degrees, reaching -23 Friday morning.
Duns says the oldest record to fall was in Manitowoc, where 15-below zero topped the 14-below record from 1884.
