STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The annual Bock Run in Stevens Point was filled with participants on Saturday despite the bitter cold.
The annual 5-mile race takes place in the streets surrounding the Stevens Point Brewery and organizers say that every spot in the run was filled within three hours of the opening of registration.
This year's men's and women's winners were Dan Sutton of Waupaca and Dani Fischer of Wausau.
2000 people ran in this year’s race which is a far cry from the 300 people in attendance for the first race 12 years ago. It took at least a full minute for every racer to get across the starting line.
Along with being a fundraiser for Stevens Point community organizations, the run is a large social event as well. Though the weather wasn’t as kind as years past, the first Saturday in March is the traditional date for the race as it is the one of the last weeks that student track athletes can participate before practices begin.
