ROTHSCHILD, Wis (WSAU) The land around the Cedar Creek Mall is being re-zoned by the Rothschild Village Board. Most of the land had been classified as heavy industrial. It will now be light industrial. Village officials say that will help attract new businesses to the area.
60 lots around Cedar Creek are impacted. About half are already developed. The rest are vacant. 8 of them are owned by the village.
The village would sell its parcels depending on the proposed use.
Much of the light industrial land in surrounding communities is priced below market value. Rothschild leaders say the zoning change will make their property competitive with the others, with built-in advantages like easy access to I-39 and reasonable property-tax rates.
