MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- The debate over the Common Core State Standards Curriculum has been heating up around Central Wisconsin, and it comes to Marshfield on Wednesday.
Local organizer Mary Carney says Dr. Duke Pesta is a recognized expert and opponent of the education plan, and he’s coming to Marshfield so the public can hear about Common Core “first-hand”. According to Carney, “Parents have no idea what Common Core even is, but it will fundamentally change our educational system.”
Carney is a mother and former teacher who says the discussion isn’t just for Marshfield parents, and she’s personally invited teachers, administrators, and “regular folks” from surrounding school districts as well.
That event is free of charge, open to the public, and starts at 5:00 pm on Wednesday at the Marshfield Holiday Inn Conference Center.
