Attorney convicted of sexual assault, strangulation

APPLETON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A former Stevens Point attorney has been convicted of 30 felony charges in Appleton.

49-year-old David Dudas was found guilty of sexually assaulting and strangling his wife. Dudas had made videos of the couple’s rough sex, which his wife said on the witness stand that she felt she had to give in to so that Dudas would not assault her. Dudas claimed his wife was a willing participant and made up the sexual assault charges.

The Outagamie County jury saw the videos and heard testimony for seven days. They found Dudas guilty of 11 counts of strangulation, one count of first degree sexual assault and 14 counts of second degree sexual assault. His bond was immediately revoked, and deputies escorted Dudas to the county jail to await his sentencing July 17th.

The series of attacks on Mrs. Dudas were brought to light last year when she was injured badly enough to need hospitalization, and investigators started asking questions.
