ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAU) -- More highway projects get underway starting Monday in central Wisconsin.
Highway 29 will have lane restrictions in Rothschild, as crews begin pavement and bridge deck replacement between the Wisconsin River and Business Highway 51. Traffic will be down to one lane in each direction during off-peak hours between now and August. Later in this project, the Sunrise Drive overpass will be closed to repair the bridge. This is the first phase of an ongoing project that will take until May of 2017 to complete.
Also in the Wausau area, Grand Avenue, also known as Business 51 in downtown Wausau will have traffic reduced to one lane in both directions starting Monday between Kent Street and Townline Road as part of a major reconstruction project. Reconstruction of the Highways K, U, and Business 51 interchange on Wausau’s north side is also continuing.
Work starts Monday in Portage County east of Plover in the Town of Lanark, as crews begin realignment and construction of a new Highway 54 and Highway A intersection. Motorists can expect to see flag operators managing traffic on 54. Highway A will be open to emergency vehicles only during construction.
Travelers on Highway 10 in Waupaca County will be reduced to one lane in each direction at County Highway E. Crews will be working on bridge repairs. This project will be done by Memorial Day.
Project already underway, such as the Minocqua Highway 70 and J intersection reconstruction and the Shawano County repaving of Highway 156 are on schedule. Traffic is detoured around the Highway 156 project using Highways 187, County F, and Highway 47.
