STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Stevens Point man that started his apartment building on fire with roommates inside will go to trial.
40-year-old Roy Strait has been ruled competent to stand trial after an examination by a medical expert. Dr. Richard Hurlbut told Portage County Judge Thomas Flugar that Strait understands the charges and is able to help his attorney with his defense.
Strait started the fire with gasoline March 4th. The two occupants got out safely.
A pretrial conference is set for June 9th for attorneys to discuss the charges of arson and recklessly endangering safety. Strait remains held in jail.
